The Quick Version
The JVM-Con is dedicated to providing an experience free of harassment, insult and discrimination for everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, political opinion, or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment, insult or discrimination of participants in any form. As well sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any JVM-Con venue, including talks, workshops, fringe events, Twitter and other online media. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the WDC without a refund at the discretion of the conference organizers (Ebner Media Group GmbH & Co. KG).
The Less Quick Version
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, political opinion, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to stop any harassing, insulting or discriminiating behavior are expected to comply immediately. Sponsors, exhibitors and speakers are also subject to the anti-harassment policy.
If a participant engages in such behavior, the conference organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of conference staff immediately. Conference staff can be identified as they’ll be wearing branded t-shirts (see below).
WDC staff will be happy to clarify any situation and assist those experiencing harassment, insult or discrimination to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance. You can identify statt members by their black shirt with “STAFF” print on the back.
We expect participants to follow these rules at all WDC venues and related social events.
